A pupil passport, also sometimes known as a “One Page Profile” or “Pen Portrait” is a single page resource created by the teacher or SENCO in discussion with parents and the learner. It is extremely useful at times of transition. It outlines a learner’s key strengths, needs and the main strategies and adaptations that are needed across the curriculum. Pupil passports should always involve the learner, and the learner should always agree with the final product, and any reviews.The passport is a working document, and best practice is that it is frequently discussed, reviewed and updated. As learners get older, they should be encouraged to take responsibility themselves for updating pupil passports.
