Morph Mastery is an intervention for learners aged 9 – 13 with spelling, reading and vocabulary difficulties. It’s research & evidence based and adopts methodology suitable for learners with dyslexia and specific learning difficulties: it’s highly structured, cumulative, multi-sensory and personalised. It can be delivered by a teacher or an experienced teaching assistant, as long as it is overseen by a teacher/SENCO. It’s also a lot of fun and very well received by both learners and adults.
The Morph Mastery intervention training course is for anyone wishing to deliver and/or oversee the intervention in their setting. There’s 8 training sessions totalling 8 hours, and you’ll be given tasks between sessions to make sure you’re on track. By the end of the course you’ll have assessed, planned for and begun to deliver intervention for one learner.
This course will focus on the recommended Morph Mastery intervention structure of 3 x weekly 30 minute lessons for up to 3 pupils, but you’ll come away with the skills and knowledge to enable you to adapt the strategies to your setting.

This is a great alternative for students who struggle with reading but find retaining phonics and blending sounds difficult.
It will enable me to deliver very personalised interventions for children for whom a phonological approach to reading and spelling has only been partially successful.
It will enable me to suggest to school a viable alternative to phonic approaches- while morphological approaches have been suggested before we haven’t had a standalone and coherent programme to suggest and this gives one, which is great.

Counters and dice for games

Small cards for games and trigger cards. It's also useful to have multiple strips/offcuts of card to make quick cards for games.

Storage for your morpheme cards. After Eights Christmas chocolate tins are useful, or the Ikea Glis range of boxes. Swap card folders are an alternative for card storage, e.g. Match Attack, Pokemon folders. Top loading rather than side loading is recommended so they don't all fall out!

Highlighter pens: green, yellow, blue (one per child you'll be working with is ideal)

Workbook for your learner(s); any format is fine, ideally with some lines for sentence writing.
- 2 x blank spinner bases - these can be obtained from many providers, but the clear spinners at Crossbow Education are the same size as the spinners in the Morph Mastery Resources

10 - 12 individual talking tiles/voice notes. There are many of these available to buy suiting most budgets, and generally you get what you pay for with voice recorders. It's important that you have the facility for 10 - 12 separate voice notes, so one recorder would only work if it has 10 - 12 buttons. Examples are as follows:
