Morph Mastery: An Overview
This short course is a great introduction to Morph Mastery for anyone with an interest in supporting learners with reading, spelling and vocabulary difficulties. You’ll find out the basics of morphology, the research behind the programme, and you’ll gain some understanding of how it’s taught. You’ll see lots of the strategies in action through film and you’ll get some ideas of things you can do now, too.
What is Morph Mastery?
Morph Mastery uses morphology, which is a system of language by which words are made up of units of meaning. Morphology is part of most national curricula worldwide from the beginning of literacy teaching. Research shows that using morphology can be highly effective and motivating for learners from age 9 onwards who have become disenchanted with traditional phonic approaches.
How can you use Morph Mastery?
Morph Mastery can be used in a number of ways; it’s a complete, intensive intervention for learners with persistent difficulties in school, but it can also be used in whole class settings, booster groups and tutoring. It works as a complete approach or as an “add on” to your regular teaching.
